Bill
Cosby
The
studio is crowded with people waiting for the lights to come on. As
the lights slowly come on, we see a beautiful set with a staircase
leading to somewhere we can’t see. Several kids run down the
stairs and scatter in several directions, as their father spins
dizzily watching. He seems annoyed and yet happy watching them
interact with each other. This father portrays the kind of dad
everyone longs to have, one with a sense of humor, yet a master at
discipline. This man is Bill Cosby playing Cliff Huxtable on the
Cosby Show.
My
family is a big fan of the Cosby show. It is extremely well written
with a very talented group of actors. Their leader Bill Cosby is the
reason for their success. I can remember my family watching the show
every night on a channel showing old series. Constant laughter could
be heard as the show progressed. Bill Cosby had great lines to work
with, but his acting ability amazed even me. He was so good at
physical comedy whether he was dancing or singing or just walking.
My personal favorite was scenes with children. He had such a
connection with children that they glowed just sitting by him. He
had such respect for them and everyone he worked with.
On
the show, Bill Cosby was famous for his wild sweater collection. The
sweaters were usually bright colors of designs that would make your
head spin. Bill Cosby stands maybe 5’ 10”, with dark hair and
dark eyes. But the feature that always stands out to me is his
smile. He always seems happy and content with his life and his
choices. He seems to walk, act and speak with confidence. He
demands respect and gives that respect to others. At least that’s
how his manner appears to me.
This
confidence is what I admire most. His love for people, especially in
the African American community, inspires him to give motivational
speeches on family and keeping the family unit strong. He tries to
inspire African Americans to stay together as a family, get a good
education, and stay away from the temptations of drugs, crime, and
alcohol. He has based his shows on following proper moral issues,
while entertaining as well.
To
me he is a master at allowing children to be themselves, have fun,
yet act respectful and loving to others. He seems to love children
and appreciates what they think and feel. I truly am impressed with
the amount of compassion and dedication he has shown throughout his
entire career and still continues to show today.
